DO YOU USE A LASER?
We have two lasers
at the DiBona Dental Group. The diagnodent is our diagnostic laser. We can use it to diagnose cavities when they are very
small, even before they begin to destroy extensive tooth structure. It works by shining a very low power red laser beam (similar
to that on a laser pointer) into the tooth and measuring the light reflected back. Decay changes the reflectivity, and the
laser gives us a reading which correlates with what is happening below the surface.
The Waterlase is our other laser. We use it to do many procedures.
It can shorten the period that a cold sore lasts, desensitize a tooth, perform some gum surgery procedures, assist in some
root canals, and even replace the drill for small cavities. In many cases the laser can be used without anesthetic or pain.
